Deborah Paredez is the author of the poetry volume, This Side of Skin, and the critical study, Selenidad: Selena, Latinos, and the Performance of Memory. Her poetry and essays have appeared in The New York Times, Los Angeles Review of Books, Poetry, Feminist Studies, Latino Studies Journal, TDR: The Drama Review, and elsewhere.  She is currently at work on a poetry manuscript about Alzheimer's called Blue and Full of Stars and a book of critical and lyric essays about divas.  She is Co-Founder and Co-Director of CantoMundo, a national organization for Latina/o poets.  She lives in New York City where she is a professor of creative writing and ethnic studies at Columbia University.
